How It Came To Be

Evan's mother Lynda and I had discovered Crystal Lake and the Pilgrim Community in the late 1960s, courtesy of Phil and Betsy (Churchill) Crossen. In 1971 we purchased a lot on the Congregational Summer Assembly in hopes of building someday. But life happened and the building didn't. In the 1990s I tried to persuade my significant other Barb Emler that we should build a cottage on the property. She was skeptical. But when Evan died she said that, since we never knew what the future held, we should go ahead. So we engaged Mark Bischak as the architect and Dean Chamberlain to build it. These were both remarkably good decisions. Construction was completed in Summer of 2003.
